I'm from a small town in East Texas called Longview. I get asked this question more often than not. A concierge is simply a person in a labor contract with another individual! So, I use my talents and years of experience to work for people in my neighborhood. A concierge is under a labor contract for the length of the contract normally 6 months to a year. Typically a concierge does one or two things which are specified in the contract, but with my contract I do more than one or two things. I admit majority of my skillset involves carpentry and handyman department, but I also do housekeeping and janitorial.
Now let's tackle the second part of this question: "What is it that you do exactly?" I remember attaining a client by asking to cut her grass one summer and before long I was washing her car, taking out the trash, organizing a garage sale, pet sitting her little dog "Ettle Man", as well as painting all the rooms in her home. I even drove her around town to run errands every once in a while. I also had a spare key to her home so when she was out of town I could check on her home and get the mail out the mailbox. I would also just stop by to keep her company. We would talk and occasionally she'll ask me to stay for dinner. She was a single retiree, on a fixed income, who lived alone, and she just needed to get things done around the house. Our friendship lasted for years. Even though she didn't enter into a contract with me, she simply called me whenever she needed something other than her grass mowed and paid me after the fact. This is what it's like having a concierge. A person on call to help you manage, well to be honest, whatever! I once took care of a preacher's mistress at the churches expense, but that's a story for another time.
